PRE – ‘ĀLIM SUMMER INTENSIVE

The Pre-`Ālim Intensive program is a six-week summer intensive program designed for students who wish to learn the foundations of Islamic sciences and to take the first steps in establishing a deeper connection with the language of the Qur’ān and Ḥadīth.

All participants are encouraged to fully immerse themselves in both parts of the program; the Core Islamic Sciences and the Classical Arabic programs. However, in order to facilitate the diverse needs and interests of all students, participants have the option to sign up for one of the two programs.

Students that successfully complete the minimum required credits for both programs will be allowed to register for the part-time evening and weekend `Ālim program, which continues throughout the rest of the school year.

Classical Arabic Intensive (CAI)

The Classical Arabic Intensive program introduces students to the foundational sciences of Qur’ānic Arabic, with focus on reading, writing, vocabulary, and comprehension. Students will immerse themselves in Arabic grammar (`Ilm al-Naḥw), Arabic morphology (`Ilm al-Ṣarf), and Arabic Syntax (al-I`rāb). In order to retain and fully understand all concepts, particular attention is given to practical exercises and self-checks for each lesson of the program.

Core Islamic Sciences Intensive (CISI)

The Core Islamic Sciences Intensive introduces students to the sciences of Islamic law (Fiqh), Islamic beliefs and creed (`Aqīdah), history of our noble Prophetﷺ  (Sīrah), and Islamic etiquette and manners (Akhlāq). This program will focus highly on the practical aspects along with the theoretical aspects, so students leave with knowledge that is as pragmatic as it is intellectually empowering for each individual.

Goal of the Program

Our beloved Prophet ﷺ  has warned that one of the signs of the last day is the disappearance of knowledge and the spread of nescience. As we continue to drift further away from the times of our pious predecessors (al-salaf as-ṣāliḥ), the effort required to hold on to their legacy is even greater.

This Pre-`Ālim intensive program immerses students into the world of traditional Islamic scholarship, passed down from generation to generation, beginning with our beloved Prophet ﷺ and his noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them). Along the way, students will form a deep connection with the language of the Qur’ān and learn to experience the message sent down from Allah Ta`ālā in a manner experienced by the scholars of the past. The Classical Arabic portion allows students to form this connection, and the Core Islamic Sciences portion allows students to see the materialization of the message in the Qur’ān and Ḥadīth.

Say, “Can those who know and those who do not know become equal?” It is only the people of understanding who are receptive of the advice. [Surah Az-Zumar (39): 9]
